Yonder Alonso Returns, Padres Win 7-2

Yonder Alonso made is return for the San Diego Padres and went 3-4 as they beat the New York Mets 7-2. This was a great recovery for the Padres as they were beat 7-0 last night. 

Ian Kennedy got the start for the Friars. He went 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 8 and walked 2 as he picked up his 3rd win of the season.

For the Mets Noah Syndergaard got the start and struggled. He pitched 4 innings allowing 10 hits and 7 runs. He struck out 10 batters however and walk zero batters. He picked up his 3rd loss of the season.

The Mets were the first ones to strike in the 1st inning. Michael Cuddyer hit a RBI single to center field that brought in Ruben Tejada and gave the Mets a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning it was the Padres turn. Alexi Amarista hit a 2-run single to right field that brought in Alonso and Will Middlebrooks. Will Venable followed with a 2-run triple of his own that scored Cory Spangenberg and Amarista and the Padres held a 4-1 lead after the 2nd.

Spangenberg hit a triple of his own in the 3rd inning that brought in Alonso that made it 5-1 Padres.

Derek Norris continued his hot hitting with a 2-run blast to left center, hit 5th of the year and the Padres lead 7-1 after 4.

In the 6th inning  Wilmer Flores hit a RBI single left that brought in Cuddyer and cut the lead to 7-2. That would serve to be the final run of the game and the Padres went home happy with the 7-2 victory.

The Padres and Mets will continue their series tomorrow night at 6:10 p.m. PST
