Xavier Henry To Miss Rest Of Preseason
- Updated: October 20, 2014
According to Baxter Holmes of ESPN.com, Xavier Henry of the Los Angeles Lakers will miss the remainder of the preseason.
Henry injured his knee for the first time, last December, which forced him to miss most of last season. Henry had surgery in April, but it now looks like a a full offseason of recovery hasn’t helped.
Still struggling with his surgically repaired right knee, he will seek more medical treatment, the team announced on Saturday.
Within the next few days, the 23-year-old will fly to visit Dr. Keith Pyne in New York City for a second opinion. Xavier Henry will then make his way to Dusseldorf, Germany to Regenokine treatment from Dr. Jens Hartmann, according to ESPN.
Teammate Kobe Bryant has received similar Regenokine treatment in the past. Regenokine treatment involves removing blood from the knee and spinning it in a centrifuge before doctors can create a serum that is then injected back in the knee which will help fight off proteins and molecules that cause inflammation.
Xavier Henry averaged 10 points and 2.7 rebounds in 43 games last season. The Lakers expect him to return to the team on October 24, which is four days before their season opener against the Houston Rockets at the Staples Center.
