Watson, Texans Beat Chargers, 27-20
- Updated: September 24, 2019
Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and tight end Jordan Akins hooked up for two touchdowns in route to a 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Watson threw for 351 yards and three touchdown passes on the Chargers defense that looked overmatched and confused. Although the Texans running game was shut down, the Texans were able to find open receivers with ease. Deandre Hopkins was held in check, with 6 catches for 67 yards but Akins, Darren Fells, Kenny Stills, and Will Fuller V did most of the damage.
The Rivers to Allen combination was working for the Chargers, they hooked up twice for a 7-yard score in the first quarter to give the Chargers the early lead and late in the second quarter to give the team a 17-7 halftime lead.
Two key injuries occurred in Sunday’s game, tight end Virgil Green suffered a groin injury in the second half and cornerback Michael Davis was ruled out for the game with an undisclosed injury.
Good news for Los Angeles(1-2), the team will travel to Miami to face the winless Miami Dolphins (0-3). This should be a great game for the Chargers to even their record to 2-2 for the season. Miami is coming off another loss to the Dallas Cowboys 31-6. Miami has been outscored this season 133-16.
