A’s Walk-Off Against Angels

The Oakland Athletics used a walkoff single from Billy Burns to beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday night 3-2.
For the Angels Matt Shoemaker got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned while walking 1 batter. He struck out 7 and allowed 1 home run as he was awarded a no decision for his efforts.
On the other side Kendall Graveman got the start. He pitched 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run. He walked 1 and stuck out 4 and also picked up a no decision.
The offense got started in the second inning for the A’s. Yonder Alonso hit a sacrifice fly to bright in Danny Valencia and gave Oakland a 1-0 lead.
In the third inning Kole Calhoun hit a solo shot to right field. For Calhoun it was his ninth homer of the year and tied the score at 1-1.
Khris Davis hit a solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. For Davis is was his sixteenth bomb of the year and gave the A’s a 2-1 advantage.
Johnny Giavotella hit a sacrifice fly in the 9th inning that brought in Todd Cunningham. Burns came through with the game winning single that brought in Marcus Semien and the Angels fell 3-2.
These two teams will square off this afternoon. Tim Lincecum will make his first start in an Angels uniform against Andrew Triggs.
