Utley Roughs Up Prospect In Dodgers Win

Reynaldo Lopez made his debut for the Nationals and it was a day he would soon not forget. The 22-year-old was greeted by the veteran Chase Utley who blasted a leadoff home run in the first inning and the Dodgers defeated the Nats 8-4.
It was the Dodgers fourth win in a row over the Nationals this season after sweeping Washington at home last month. The offense got back on track following the series with Joc Pederson coming off the disabled list to add a 2-run RBI single in the first inning.
For Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir, the recipe was pickles and mustard in order to endure a hot and humid day in Washington D.C.
Kazmir fought through cramps throughout the game and went seven innings while allowing only one run on four hits to grab his eighth win of the year.
In the fifth inning Yasiel Puig added an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 6-0 lead and Lopez was taken out afterward.
The Nats scored three runs in the eighth off Chris Hatcher on a two run triple by Trea Turner and a double by Daniel Murphy.
Yasmani Grandal would give the Dodgers an insurance run in the ninth inning with a solo home run.
Los Angeles who have hounded the NL East leaders all season long got help from the Red Sox. Boston defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-0 to cut the NL West division gap down to 4.5 games.
