Ups And Downs For The 2017 Angels, Part One

@LA_Angels_RR

After a very rough 2016 season for the Los Angeles Angels, 2017 has to be better. This team should have some ups and downs and we should take a look them starting with pitching.

PITCHING:

The upside should be the health of the team, but we all know that could be a downhill slide. At this time all of the Angels starters are healthy and the starting rotation should look this way;  Garrett Richards, Matt Shoemaker, Ricky Nolasco,  Tyler Skaggs, and Jesse Chavez.

Veteran righthander Jesse Chavez could be the team’s fifth starter, he comes to the Angels after splitting time with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Dodgers. Chavez spent most of his time as a reliever and hasn’t started a game since 2015 when he was a member of the Oakland A’s. Cam Bedrosian will be the team’s closer taken over for Huston Street. With the change at closer, Street will join the Mike Morin, J.C. Ramirez, and newcomer Austin Adams, coming over from the Cleveland Indians to give the bullpen a lift.

HEALTH, HEALTH, HEALTH, repeat this with me! This team’s pitching staff has to stay healthy. Matt Shoemaker could return to the pitcher he was in 2014 if he can stay healthy. Garrett Richards is now the ace of the staff with the departure of Jared Weaver to the San Diego Padres. The team’s pitching should improve with HEALTHY arms. The upside for the pitching staff.
