Turnovers Cost Clippers Against Warriors
- Updated: February 2, 2017
With the always tough “Grammy Road Trip” approaching for the Clippers getting a win at home against a rival team like the Warriors would’ve been a huge confidence boost. Would’ve been.
With Chris Paul still out due to his thumb injury it was going to be an uphill battle but Golden State had some injury issues of their own. Starters Draymond Green and Zaza Pachulia both missed this contest with lingering injuries.
The Clippers just couldn’t capitalize. Turnovers plagued the team early and it never got better.

Los Angeles ended up with 15 turnovers to Golden State’s 11.
Turnovers weren’t all that haunted the Clippers. Allowing the Warriors to crash the glass offensively and come up with second chance points killed any momentum the Clippers could get going and passed it right back to their opponent. Golden State would close this one out with 15 offensive rebounds helping them out-rebound Los Angeles by 9.
It wasn’t all bad for the Clippers, Blake Griffin was a bright spot in this matchup. In just his second game back from injury he played lights out finishing with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. His aggressiveness offensively was a real positive as he took advantage of some size mismatches in ways fans have been waiting for. Not to mention a thunderous jam towards the end of the second quarter on former UCLA Bruin Kevon Looney.

Blake also completed a career milestone Thursday night passing Buffalo Braves great Bob Mcadoo for second on the franchise’s all-time scoring list.
Other than a late run that pulled the Clippers within 7 not much else went well for them in this one. Some smooth passing for the Warriors that saw them ending up with 38 team assists got their stars open and it showed on the stat-sheet. Kevin Durant was on triple-double watch with 26 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds while his other MVP teammate Steph Curry closed up shop with 29 points and 11 assists.
Golden State was just too powerful offensively to be slowed down but Los Angeles certainly didn’t help their cause with turnovers and rebounding deficiencies.
The Warriors would win 133-120.
The next game for Los Angeles will be in Boston on Super Bowl Sunday and that game will kick off the team’s annual “Grammy Road Trip”. Which this year will see them play 5 games consecutively on the road.
