Tim Hardaway Jr. Lifts Knicks Over Lakers 101-94

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 22 points off the bench to lift the New York Knicks over the Los Angeles Lakers 101-94. The Knicks entered tonight in the middle of a five game losing streak and was able to snap it against a struggling Lakers team. Derek Fisher made his return to Staples Center for the first time as a coach and was able to walk away with a victory in the building he has so many fond memories in.

The Lakers were coming off a win of their own but struggled with turnovers and defending the three point line. For the Knicks Hardaway’s 22 points including 5 three pointers was a huge help for an offense that has struggled thus far this season. Hardaway hit as many three by himself as the entire Laker team.

Andrea Bargnani added 16 points for the Knicks, and Alexey Shved had a solid all around game with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Langston Galloway and Cleanthony Early each reached double-digits as well.

For the Lakers they had 6 players reach double figures led by Jordan Hill and Jeremy Lin. Hill scored 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds and Lin scored 14 points and had 7 assists. Tarik Black recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Carlos Boozer, Jordan Clarkson, and Wayne Ellington each scored 11 points respectively.

Wesley Johnson had an off night for the Lakers. He shot just 2/10 from the field and ended up with just 4 points. Tonight’s loss drops the Lakers to just 10-22 at home. They will try and regroup as they take on the Atlanta Hawks at home on Sunday night.
