Tyler Toffoli, Nick Shore, Andy Andreoff and Martin Jones are also free agents but of the restricted kind. It seems that Shore, Andreoff and Jones will return to the team (possibly) without fuss but Toffoli’s contract might be a tricky one. I do have faith that he will indeed return to the team but how much his new contract will dictate the outcome of any restricted free agent signings is hard to tell at this moment. Hopefully this will be a painless process and result, unlike Drew Doughty’s re-signing back in 2011.
Possibly saying farewell to Robyn Regehr, Mike Richards, Justin Williams, Jarret Stoll and/or Andrej Sekera is going to weigh down even the toughest of hearts in the Kingdom. We now truly know how the Chicago Blackhawks felt after winning their Stanley Cup in 2010 and then having to let go a lot of their key players that helped them win it but like them, the core of the Los Angeles Kings team will remain intact. I have complete faith in Dean Lombardi and his sorcery to be able to find a solution (or solutions) and bring the Kings back into Stanley Cup contention either with or without any of these free agent players. Still, saying good-bye to some of our playoff heroes isn’t going to be easy and will bring much sadness to us this summer (or forever) but remember Kings fans that these players (minus Sekera of course who only arrived 2 months ago) will forever be in our Stanley Cup history. Regardless of who returns and who doesn’t, the contributions of all those players will never be erased, ret-conned or forgotten and will live on forever in our hearts and in our memories… and will also live on forever on our two Stanley Cup championship Blu-Ray/DVD/Videos! Knowing I can watch those at any time and relive their glorious times as Kings player/warriors does make me feel a little bit better. So if this truly is good-bye than thank you again gentlemen for everything you have done, contributed and added to the team. You all truly were and always will be KINGS!
