Steve Nash To Join Golden State Warriors Staff?
- Updated: September 18, 2015
It is looking more and more likely that Steve Nash, a beloved player for Phoenix and the Lakers, will be joining the Warriors coaching staff. According to ESPN.com, the two are currently in advanced negotiations which will bring Nash on as a part-time consultant.
Sources have made it known that Nash wasn’t looking to go into coaching after his retirement announcement, but he has, “been lobbied aggressively by Warriors coach Steve Kerr and team president Rick Welts to spend a few days per month with the team to work on skills.”
Steve Nash might have been foreshadowing this when he was working out with Jordan Clarkson earlier this year. It is also rumored that he worked out with Jeremy Lin, Dante Exum, Kemba Walker and C.J. McCollum while he was injured.
ESPN.com explains, “It’s a natural fit for Nash to work with Warriors star guard Stephen Curry, given the longstanding comparisons between the two, as well as fellow Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson, with whom Nash shares an agent (Bill Duffy).
Congrats to Steve Nash on his new (potential) gig! We hope nothing but the best for you.
