Steelers Beat Chargers, 24-17
- Updated: October 16, 2019
The Los Angeles Chargers played one of the most disappointing games of this season, which turned into a 24-17 defeat at the hands of Pittsburgh Steelers.
Steelers third-string quarterback Delvin Hodges picked up his first win as a starter. Pittsburgh wasted no time building an early 14-point lead in the first quarter, as the lead grew to 24 after three quarters. The Chargers finally scored their first points in the first minutes of the final quarter on a 38-yard field goal from Chase McLaughlin.
Hunter Henry returned from injury and was the brights star for the team. The tight end led the team in receptions with eight, for an even 100-yards and two touchdowns. The team had to rely on the pass as the running game struggled again. Both Austin Ekeler and Melvin Gordon were held to 32 yards on the ground.
Three costly turnovers were crucial in the sloppy play that led to the Steelers win. The Chargers (2-4) will travel to Nashville to face the Titans (2-4) as both teams are looking for answers to their inconsistent play over the first six weeks of the season. Tennessee comes into this game after being shutout by the Denver Broncos 16-0.
