Sound The Alarms Landon Donovan Is Back!

Donovan

Remember last week when the Galaxy moved defensive midfielder Nigel De Jong and nobody could figure out what was going on.

That just happened!

LA Galaxy legend Landon Donovan is in talks to return to his former club. The clubs all time leading goal-scorer retired after the 2014 season going out with an MLS Cup, 10 goals and a ridiculous 19 assists in his final season.

While we’re not entirely sure how much De Jong’s departure has to do with the return of the MLS MVP Trophy’s namesake it does seem to be one hell of a coincidence.

There are some major question to ask though, how long will he be back and for how much? While no figures have been released yet, it should be noted that De Jong was making roughly $500,00 this season from Los Angeles. Does that mean Donovan will? No not at all, especially since he’s coming in with just six regular season games left. But that may explain how they freed up some money to pay the 34 year-old midfielder.

Another question is, what kind of shape is he in? It’s been two seasons since he last played a competitive soccer match, one does have to wonder.

And finally but least importantly does Giovani Dos Santos still wear the number 10 jersey? Just saying, if soccer did retire jerseys this guy’s would have gone up at StubHub the second he walked off the pitch in 2014. Doubt he’ll cause much of a fuss over it but an interesting topic nonetheless.

At the very least Galaxy fans we just brought in one of (if not) the best MLS players in history for the remainder of the season. Things could be worse.
