Scott Van Slyke Stars, Dodgers Win 7-0

Scott Van Slyke had a big day and the Dodgers cruised past Colorado Rockies 7-0. Today’s win pushes the Dodgers win streak to 7 in a row.
For the Dodgers Brandon McCarthy got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 6. He did walk 2 batters but it didn’t matter as he picked up his 2nd win of the year.
On the other side Eddie Butler got the start for the Rockies. He pitched 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 run while striking out 4. He was awarded his first loss of the season.
Scott Van Slyke got started early when he hit an RBI double to left center that brought in Howie Kendrick in the second inning. Joc Pederson added a RBI double of his own to left that brought in Van Slyke and the Dodgers lead 2-0 after the 2nd inning.
In the 6th Kendrick hit solo shot to center field. Van Slyke followed with a 2-run blast of his own that brought in Andre Ethier and gave the Dodgers a 5-0 lead. Pederson got in on the action as he hit a solo bomb to right that pushed the Dodgers lead to 6-0.
Justin Turner decided to get in on the hit parade when he doubled to left center. He double brought in A.J. Ellis to give the Dodgers the 7-0 lead. Today’s shutout was the first of the year for the Dodgers.
Adam Liberatore pitched 2 innings of scoreless ball striking out 2. And Juan Nicasio pitched the ninth for the Dodgers.
Van Slyke finished today’s game going 3-4 with a homer, 2 doubles, and 3 RBI’s.
They will get Monday off before heading to San Francisco to take on the Giants on Tuesday night.
