San Diego Padres sign shortstop Alexei Ramirez
- Updated: January 15, 2016
The San Diego Padres are at it once again. Yesterday it was announced that the Padres have agreed to a contract with former Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez. Corey Brock of the Padres reported the news.

The contract is for one year and has yet to be confirmed by the San Diego Padres. But I imagine that this deal will be complete within a matter of days.
Ramirez spent the last eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox. The veteran shortstop adds stability to a team that is in the process of tweaking its roster after last season’s result.
In 2015, Alexei Ramirez posted a (.249) batting average, to go with (10) home runs and (62) RBI’s. Ramirez will be 35 toward the end of next season as his presence will be needed in the Padres infield in 2016.
