In last night’s match up of the San Diego Padres vs. the San Francisco Giants, the game ended 3-2 in the Padres favor.
With Madison Bumgarner kicking off the pitching for the Giants, and he struck out Melvin Upton, Dereck Norris, and Justin Upton swiftly. Odrisamer Despaigne began pitching for the Padres and he followed suit.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth that the scoring started. With Odrisamer Despaigne pitching and Gregor Blanco up to bat, he was able to reach an infield single and help Matt Duffy score. Then Joe Panik stepped up and he doubled to deep center which pushed Blanco to score for the Giants.
In the sixth inning, Will Venable came in to bat for Odrisamer Despaigne and he lined out to center.
The Padres struck in the eighth inning when Venable doubled to left. This move helped Yonder Alonso and Will Middlebrooks to score. This tied up the game 2-2.
The game went to extra innings as both teams struggled to get on the board again in the bottom of the eighth/ninth. In the eleventh inning Alexi Amarista reached on an infield single which helped Derick Norris to score and ultimately win the game for the Padres.
Up next the Padres and the Giants will play each other again tonight at 7:05 pm PST.
