The Padres have made their share fair of moves this offseason but it looks as if more may be coming. Sardinas was recently sent from the Texas Rangers to the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade involving Yovani Gallardo.
Rosenthal reported that the Padres have interest in the young prospect but it is unknown how much interest the Brewers have in moving him.
Currently the Padres have Alexi Amarista and Clint Barmes at the shortstop position. Sardinas could be an upgrade defensively over the two.
He does have the ability to play multiple positions in the infield. Last year in the majors he played a little bit of shortstop, second base, and third base.
It is important to note that Padres general manager A.J. Preller is very familiar with Sardinas. The two were apart of the Texas Rangers organization together.
It will be interested to see if anything gets done with Sardinas. You never know what Preller has up his sleeve.
