San Diego Chargers “Have No Choice” but To Move
- Updated: December 18, 2016
It looks like the Chargers will be moving forward with their move out of San Diego. Pack your bags??
CBS Sports is reporting that the team’s owner, Dean Spanos, as saying the Chargers have no other option than to move the team out of the city. A source involved with the ownership team says that the deal is as good as done.
“They’re going to Los Angeles. It’s just a matter of announcing it. There aren’t any miracles here.”
The NFL has given Spanos the deadline of January 15 in regards to making a decision on relocation, but that could change.
The same ownership source makes the bold claim that the city of San Diego aren’t pulling out any stops to keep the team out of LA.
“He doesn’t have a choice from an economic standpoint, and he knows it,” said one ownership source with another club with strong ties to Spanos. “He’s as good as gone. He basically told us that he has no choice.”
Although the news isn’t surprising, it does frustrate fans that it’s taking so long for the team to come out and tell their following what is going on.
Moving a team is a tough thing to do and success (and failure stories) can be found across the league (and other leagueS).
Negative? San Diego won’t be happy
Positive? At least they have had some time to prepare themselves for the blow?
