Ryan Schimpf Named Rookie Of The Month

According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com San Diego Padres second basemen Ryan Schimpf has been named rookie of the month for the month of July.
Ryan Schimpf has been named NL Rookie of the Month. Deservedly so. He hit .269/.387/.705 with a franchise-record nine homers in July.

Schimpf was a 5th round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2009 MLB draft. He made his major league debut in June of this year and has played some excellent ball since coming up.
In a year that hasn’t exactly gone the way that Padres fans would have wanted, it’s nice to see the kid get recognized. Congratulations Ryan Schimpf!
