Russell’s 32 pts Push Lakers Past Nets
- Updated: November 17, 2016
D’Angelo Russell is emerging as one of the more valuable guys on this 2016-2017 Lakers squad. After dropping 32 on Brooklyn Tuesday night, Russell is averaging close to 17 PPG, a huge piece to the Lakers’ 7-5 start.
Julius Randle cruised to a double double and Timofey Mozgov eclipsed the 20-point mark. Black and Clarkson each reached double figures off the bench.
Brook Lopez and Bojan Bogdanovic each chipped in with huge efforts for Brooklyn (30 pts and 29 pts, respectively) but in a losing effort. Devin Booker tallied the fourth double double of his young career.
It was a competitive game up until the final minutes, when Los Angeles created some separation. 125-118 was the final in favor of LA. It was Los Angeles’ third win in four contests.
At 7-5, Los Angeles is set to begin a brutal three-game home-stretch, beginning with San Antonio Friday, Chicago Sunday, and OKC Tuesday. Los Angeles will travel to Oakland to take on Golden State 11/23 before hosting the Warriors two days after (11/25).
It should be a priority for the Lakers to maintain .500 or better throughout this difficult upcoming stretch.
