Hibbert has spent his entire career with the Pacers before the trade. Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reported some of the details of the trade.
As Pacers-Lakers figure out details of Roy Hibbert trade, it looks like Pacers will get cash and future pick in return. Sorting it out now.

Zillgitt also reported his thoughts on how the trade worked out for both parties.
Short-term solution for both Pacers & Lakers. Hibbert wasn't part of Pacers' future & Lakers need a big after striking out in free agency.

Wojnarowski reported further details on the trade.
Sources: Final issue still being worked out in trade — fiitting Hibbert's 15 percent trade kicker into Lakers room. Sides working that out.

After the Lakers swung a miss on the big name free agents like DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge a deal needed to be made in order to solidify the middle.
Hibbert who is an elite rim protector will be able to help a Laker defense that ranked in the bottom of the league in all major defensive categories.
Although the Lakers are not happy about the situation at all at least they can say they upgraded on the defensive end and have an expiring contract.
It will work out for both parties the Lakers and Hibbert due to the fact it’s a one year deal. If Hibbert plays well and doesn’t like LA he can become a free agent next summer and seek new opportunities. If he does like a LA he could possibly get a long-term deal in Lakerland.
It took four days but the Lakers have finally made their first move. Welcome to Los Angeles Roy Hibbert!
