Blake Griffin returned to the Los Angeles Clippers lineup this afternoon but his return was spoiled by the Houston Rockets as they fell 100-98. The Clippers have been waiting for Griffin to return and are excited to have him back to say the least. They were coming off a tough loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night and we unable to rebound from the loss tonight.
James Harden led the Rockets with 34 points. He connected on 17 of 18 free throws to go along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. The Rockets were without their star big man Dwight Howard who has been out for an extended period of time this season.
Trevor Ariza almost had a strong game. He had 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Terrence Jones had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
For the Clippers Griffin almost had a triple double in his return. He had 11 points ,11 rebounds, and 8 assists. Chris Paul led the way with 23 points but struggled shooting the ball going 7/21 from the field. Matt Barnes scored 19 points and DeAndre Jordan continued his rebounding presence with 20 rebounds and 5 points.
Jordan’s free throw issues hurt the Clippers today as he went just 1/8 from the charity stripe. J.J. Redick chipped in 15 points as well.
Turnovers were a big issues for the Clips tonight. Although they shot the ball extremely well from the three the 20 turnover and missed free throws were what kept the Clippers from winning today’s game.
The Clippers will play host to Al Jefferson and the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night.
