Robbie Keane Made His Mom Proud On Mother’s Day

Happy Mothers Day! The LA Galaxy took on the New England Revolution on this wonderful day of celebration. I’m sure Robbie Keane made his mom proud.

Keane made his return to the field today after an absence due to injury. He even scored the game’s first goal in the 14th minute.

Giovani dos Santos scored his fifth goal in four games today. It was definitely a crazy shot from him!

Gyasi Zardes (mostly) impressed me today too. He assisted on two Robbie Keane goals. On the second, he crossed the ball around Bobby Shuttleworth and Keane made his run to gently tap it into the net.

LA Galaxy trounced the Revs in the first half. I thought they might score 2-3 more goals, but tired legs started to wear them down.

Towards the last thirty minutes of the game, they lost momentum. It seemed LA felt complacent in its 3-0 lead. Bruce subbed in Stevie for Keane. No surprise there since Keane just played his first game since his injury. Yet, Bruce let Jeff Larentowicz continue after he appeared completely gassed towards the end. Instead he subbed in Baggio Husidic for Sebastian Lletget. That move shocked me since Lletget worked so hard all game.

The Galaxy nearly dropped three points today. They looked completely different in the second half. I almost thought we threw the game away.

Kelyn Rowe scored in the 67th minute and Juan Agudelo followed it in the 70th minute. The Revs nearly left Los Angeles with one or three points. They controlled most of the first half and the last bit of the second half. LA mostly scored on counter attacks.

Luckily, Steven Gerrard pushed into the box, dribbled around some Revolution defenders, and just pounded it past Shuttleworth. Poor defending there from Andrew Farrell and Je-Vaughn Watson after stalwart Jose Goncalves left the game with an injury.

The LA Galaxy set a record though with their win today. They won their 300th game—the most in league history for a team. Possibly two, actually—all three DPs (Robbie Keane, dos Santos, and Gerrard) scored a goal. Has this happened before? I think it is the first time.

Next Game

Look out for lineup changes for the next game on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Union. Not a big break between matches, so Bruce will need to play some different guys. I hope to see Villarreal receive some playing time. I doubt Larentowicz, Robbie Keane, and Gerrard will play a full game. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for continuing consistency from our forwards and less complacency!
