Buster Olney of ESPN.com reported that James Shields could be a possiblty for the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers if the Padres are serious about moving him.
If SD goes into full-blown sell mode, James Shields could be a really interesting target for teams like the Cubs/LAD as mid-range solution.

James Shields has been one of the few bright spots for the Padres this season. He currently sports a 7-3 record with a 3.88 ERA.
Onley also reported that Craig Kimbrel is also a possibility to be moved.
Part of the equation for SD in trading Shields (or Kimbrel, for that matter) would be to recover some needed future financial flexibility.
