According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald the trade regarding Mat Latos from the Miami Marlins, could be “falling apart.”
NBCSports writes the following: “Latos and Morse are still in the Marlins’ clubhouse. Marlins manager Dan Jennings said this afternoon that he hadn’t heard about the trade being close. It’s been reported this afternoon that the Dodgers are trying to flip Morse to a third team, so that could be the holdup.”
Below is the story written this morning on the deal.
The Dodgers this morning are sending 3 currently unnamed minor league players to the Marlins in exchange for Mat Latos, Michael Morse and a competitive balance pick in the 2016 Rule IV draft.
With Mat Latos, the Dodgers are acquiring a good backend rotation arm to solidify their run for the playoffs and more.
Latos has a 4.48 ERA but a 3.34 FIP, and his other pitching peripherals are in line with his career numbers so I expect that with the Dodgers good defense and the framing and pitch calling of AJ Ellis and Yasmani Grandal that he will make a resurgence with the Dodgers and be a valuable piece.
Mat Latos will also be a free agent after this season but at 27, is a pitcher that I can see resigning with the Dodgers long-term if they choose not to keep Brett Anderson or just want another arm.”
