Report: Doc Rivers, Clippers Working On Contract Extension

According to Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Clippers and head coach Doc Rivers are working on a contract extension.

Rivers is an NBA Champion as a head coach with the Boston Celtics. He has been a head coach of the Orlando Magic, Celtics, and Clippers. Los Angeles has not seen better times in franchise history than with Rivers at the helm but still, there has been some uncertainty in his future.

The club loss Chris Paul and then traded Blake Griffin. DeAndre Jordan could leave this summer but Rivers did an admirable job this season just missing the playoffs with a roster that was probably the most injured in the league.

Below is an excerpt from Plaschke’s article.

Although nothing has been made official, all indications are that Rivers and Ballmer have reached an agreement on a multiyear extension that will keep Rivers here for a remodeling job that will begin soon.

This is big. This is cornerstone big. This is the Clippers setting the foundation for the post Lob City era with a guy who is coaching even better now than when he led them through the Donald Sterling crisis upon his arrival five years ago.
