The Small Forward problem:

I sat there with Clipper nation on draft night screaming at my TV when we took CJ Wilcox instead of KJ McDaniels or Cleanthony Early because this team has had an obvious need at the Small Forward spot ever since Corey Maggette walked out of the door. It was also a head scratching moment because if there was one spot the Clippers didn’t need to address in the offseason it was at the Shooting Guard. There’s an interesting term that I’ve been hearing with these players Doc has drafted lately and that’s “3 and D”. These are the types of wings Doc is looking for, guys who can shoot threes and play tough defense. I’m a firm believer that Reggie Bullock very well could end up being an excellent Small Forward for this team somewhere down the line, but he isn’t starting material on a championship caliber team right now. Again this returns to what we’ve been hearing all month for this Clipper team, make a trade and get a starting caliber wing to go with Redick.

I’m not forgetting Matt Barnes, I know he is the current starter but he hasn’t been performing near the level any of us expected. I’m aware of the recent reports that this might be due to personal issues Barnes has been having off the court and that’s understandable. These guys aren’t robots they’re humans too, but how long does the team wait for him to reacclimate?
