The Consistency Issue:
The problem is consistency. Not all things that affect a basketball game show up on a stat sheet. For those of you that watched the Bulls game on Monday you know what I mean. That game was headed in the Clippers favor the whole first half, then disaster occurred in the form of a three point play for Chicago to end the first half that left all Clipper fans with a sour taste in their mouths hoping that momentum wouldn’t carry over to the second half for Chicago. It did. The Clippers were outscored 31-14 in the third quarter and as a team, you do not come back from that. Wasn’t this team supposed to get smarter under Doc? Stupid plays like that one were supposed to have gone out the window with Vinny Del Negro right?
Don’t mistake this for an article ripping on Doc Rivers because you won’t find that from me. Long before he got to LA I thought Doc was one of the leagues best coaches and today I still do. I agree with his philosophy that defense wins championships. My only question for Doc would be this, does he still believes that defense wins championships? It would seem as a General Manager that he’s making moves that would suggest otherwise.
