“The Sky Isn’t Falling”
Since the loss that occurred against the Rose and Gasol absent Chicago Bulls on Monday it would seem that everyone thinks the sky is falling around the Clippers. Jim Rome stated that the Clippers are “flatlining” and just about every story you can read or see on television is talking about how the Clippers either have to make a trade or some sort of major change to lift their spirits. Here’s my take, WE’VE PLAYED NINE GAMES.
I’m not saying there’s no need for concern at all because there is a little. This team that finished middle of the league in rebounds last season is now tied for dead last with the Miami Heat in team rebounds, even with Deandre Jordan leading the league in rebounds again. The Clippers team defense has struggled and has dropped from 13th in points per game given up last season, to 22nd through these first nine games. Chris Paul is second in assists and Blake Griffin is eighth in scoring and those both seem somewhat normal statistically.
