Reign Weekly Wrap-up: Three Victories Push Team Up in Standings

When we last met our Ontario heroes, the team was a few tick percentage points above the basement of the Pacific Division. After a successful week with three victories, the Reign is in fifth place at 8-7-0-1 (17 points), only six points out of first place behind four teams tied at 23 points. The team goes for its fifth consecutive victory at 7 p.m., Friday, December 1 against the San Diego Gulls at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
In the Thanksgiving Eve 3-1 victory over the Stockton Heat in Ontario, the Reign pulled away with two goals in the second period and never looked back. Goalie Jack Campbell saved 27 of 28 shots, and three players – Mike Amadio, Justin Auger and Michael Mersch – each netted two points in the victory. The winning goal came 37 seconds into the second from Keegan Iverson, his first professional goal.
The day after Thanksgiving there was more to be thankful for. Reign netminder Cal Petersen blocked all 23 shots as the team defeated the San Jose Barracuda 3-0. All three goals came in the third period after close calls in the second, as both teams hit the post twice. The winning goal came at 1:57 in the third from defenseman Stepan Falkovsky.
Rounding out the weekend, the Reign took its fourth straight victory in a 3-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage. Lucky threes this last week. Three victories with three goals each game. Though outshot by the Rampage 37-26, three different
Forwards Sam Herr, T.J. Hensick and Jamie Devane scored for the Reign, and Campbell took the victory, now 4–4–1–0 on the season, narrowly missing a shutout after giving up a goal with 91 seconds left in the match.
