A two-time Stanley Cup Champion and Olympic gold medalist, he was a major contributor to all three of those heavily coveted championships.  All that is needed for evidence of Carter’s effectiveness is to simply watch the video of his games as a member of the Los Angeles Kings (and Team Canada) and watch him play, especially in the games where a championship is on the line.  Forget the highlights, forget the reported news stories, forget his past and even ignore this very article right here that I have written.  Judge honestly for yourself and just watch him play and everything he now does on that ice.  Even compare him to when he played for Philadelphia or Columbus.  The video, the numbers and the results will tell you what Dean Lombardi and Daryl Sutter figured out, what Steve Yzerman and Mike Babcock figured out for Team Canada and what the hockey media that cover the Kings and the Western Conference, along with LA Kings fans have all figured out in the end.  That the video, the numbers and the results do not lie, and within them holds the truth and the tale of Jeff Carter…. and of his redemption.

Feeling under the weather, Jeff Carter made it early to the Staples Center for the night’s game.  He gave himself enough time to arrive so he could properly stretch and visualize the action that was going to occur later that night.  His wife and LA Kings trainers were advising him to sit this game out due to the illness he was suffering but with the team currently struggling to gain points in the standings, he was keeping himself in the game and no one was going to convince him otherwise.  His team needed him.

Entering the arena, he walked by his coach Daryl Sutter who was having a press conference with the local hockey media. Spotting the entrance of Carter in the background, the reporter asked Coach Sutter about Carter’s current slump and how he was going to handle it?  This greatly annoyed Sutter as he spit out some sarcastic venom to the well-intentioned reporter, “Oh I wouldn’t worry about Jeff Carter.”  Nervously, the reporter asked, “Why is that?” Sutter answered with a confident mumble that was deeply rooted with a message that was matter of factly, to the point and quickly understood by all that were there, “Because he’s got this.”
