Red Wings Late Goal Beat Ducks 2-1

The Detroit Red Wings scored a goal late in the third period to beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Sunday night. For the Ducks it marks their 17 loss of the season.

The offense got started in the first 16 seconds when Tomas Tatar scored a wrist shot goal unassisted. This goal had Ducks fans silent it looked to be a long night for Anaheim.

Corey Perry was able to settle the crowd down and scored a backhand goal that was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell. After the first the period the game was tied at 1-1. Anaheim outshot the Red Wings 7-6 in the period.

In the second period there were no goals scored. Anaheim outshot the Red Wings 11-8 but neither team was able to capitalize on their shots on goal.

In the third period it was back and forth affair. Riley Sheahan scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Dylan Larkin and the Red Wings took control 2-1.

Anaheim outshot Detroit 13-10 in the period but it didn’t matter. John Gibson made 22 saves for a .917 save percentage. Petr Mrazek made 30 saves for a .968 save percentage.

Up next for the Ducks is the Ottawa Senators at home on Wednesday night.
