RECAP: Warriors 112, Clippers 108

In one of the most anticipated games of the new season, the World Champion Golden State Warriors edged out the Los Angeles Clippers, 112-108.

Clippers fans shouldn’t be upset with the loss, which is the first of the season but they should take into consideration that they were playing a Warriors team that had been beating their opponents by a margin of over 14 points per game.

The Clippers were led by Chris Paul with 24 points on 9 of 15 from the field. DeAndre Jordan had a solid game with a double-double, with 11 points and 13 boards to lead the team in rebounding. Credit the Clippers defense, they managed to keep the MVP Stephen Curry to 31 points, which isn’t bad compared to the two games he had against the New Orleans Pelicans, when he scored 40 and 53 points respectfully.

This game was filled with exciting moments, 12 lead changes in the first quarter alone. The Warriors built a sizable lead at the half, at 63-56. The Clippers did put the pressure on the Warriors, entering the fourth quarter with a small three point lead at 85-82. Stephen Curry’s jumper, with 5:31 left in the game, gave the Warriors the lead at 100-99. The Clippers managed to tie the game twice more before the end of the game at 103 and 105. After a foul, DeAndre Jordan sank two free-throws to give the lead back to the Clips at 106-105 but Curry’s three-pointer gave the Warriors the lead for good at 108-106.
Klay Thompson‘s two free-throws sealed the win for the Warriors, with only 13 seconds left in the game.

NEXT UP FOR THE CLIPPERS:

The first loss of the season is tough but the Clippers are moving on to the next game. The Houston Rockets are in town on Saturday night to face the Clips and this should be another great matchup. Revenge will be in the minds of the Clippers, as they will welcome back the team that ended their playoff run from a season ago. The Rockets still have their core with James Harden and former Lakers center Dwight Howard. The team added a few new members such as former Denver Nuggets point-guard Ty Lawson and former Wisconsin small-forward, rookie Sam Dekker.

The Rockets are rebounding from a rocky start of the season, after three straight losses, they have managed to win their past two games in which they have scored over 110 points. The Clippers are currently 4-1 and are a game behind the Golden State Warriors, in the NBA’s Pacific Division.
