Recap: Royals 4, Angels 1
- Updated: August 15, 2015
The Kansas City Royals responded to their 7-6 loss against the Los Angeles Angels with a 4-1 win. This game had particular intrigue due to the fact both of these two teams met in the postseason last year.
Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy (6-5, 4.03 ERA, 6.0 IP,2 K’s, 5 Hits, 1 ER) (W) pitched well against Jered Weaver (4-9, 4.60 ERA, 6.0 IP, 3 K’s, 4 Hits, 2 ER) (L) who recently came off the disabled list.
This game started out and Los Angeles seemed to be picking up from last nights comeback win. Angels start Mike Trout hit an RBI double to to right field as Shane Victorino scored, giving Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. All during the top of the first inning.
Strangely enough the Angels weren’t able to score another run for the rest of the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ben Zobrist scored via error by Angels first baseman Albert Pujols. This tied the game at 1-1.
After Lorenzo Cain‘s base hit, Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer hit a two-run home run to right field. Kansas City led 3-1. Drew Butera scored another run for the Royals with an RBI single as Paulo Orlando scored the final run of the game.
4-1 was the final here as the Royals took game two. This afternoon at 4:10 PM PT game three will begin. Angels starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker (5-8, 4.36 ERA) will face Royals newly acquired ace Johnny Cueto (8-7, 2.53 ERA)
