The San Diego Padres have lost their last two games against the Philadelphia Phillies. This was with one of their best pitchers in Tyson Ross (8-9, 3.39 ERA, 7.0 IP, 8 K’s, 5 Hits, 3 ER) (L) on the mound.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Adam Morgan (3-3, 4.06 ERA, 6.0 IP, 4 K’s, 6 Hits, 1 ER) (W) was in control as he allowed one run through six earned to the Padres. The Phillies started to score in the top of the first inning.

Phillies center fielder Odubel Herrera hit an RBI single to right center as he would continue on to score. Herrera scored on a wild pitch by Tyson Ross. Odubel Herrera continued in the top of the third inning as he was responsible for Philadelphia’s lead over San Diego. Herrera’s RBI single brought in Cesar Hernandez as they lead 3-0 at the end of three innings.

The Padres managed to score one run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Matt Kemp hit an RBI single to center as third baseman Yangervis Solarte scored to bring San Diego a run. It was 3-1 Philadelphia but San Diego scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jedd Gyorko hit an RBI single to score Justin Upton as the Padres were within one run at 3-2.

This comeback wasn’t quite enough. In the top of the eighth inning Phillies shortstop Cesar Hernandez hit an RBI triple as Chase Utley scored to make it 4-2 Philadelphia. The final score solidified the series win for the Phillies.

Tomorrow at 1:10 PM PT is game three of this series. Will the Padres similar to the Dodgers avoid being swept on Sunday? We shall see.
