The final game of the series, between San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds, goes to the Reds after they avoid a series sweep, 7-3 win.

Reds starter Raisel Iglesias,(W, 3-4), gave up a first inning three-run homer to Matt Kemp, his 12th of the season. Iglesias managed to get through 6 innings of work, only giving up the three runs, striking out eight, on 96 pitches. Joey Votto was the Padres main problem in this game, Votto blasted his 20th homer of the season, while collecting three hits and three RBIs, to lead the Reds offense in this game.

James Shields,(L,8-5), had another solid performance, working 6.1/3, striking out seven. Shields managed to get both Jay Bruce and Ivan De Jesus three times on strikeouts but the Padres offense could not produce any more runs besides the first inning three. The Padres only managed to have runners in scoring position three times and the Kemp homer was the only time that the team was successful.

The team will now head to Colorado, to start a series with the Rockies on Friday evening. Tyson Ross,(8-9, 3.39 ERA), will take the mound for San Diego. He will be opposed by the Rockies Yohan Flande,(2-1, 3.86 ERA), in game one of the three game weekend series.

San Diego,(54-61), is still in fourth place, in the National League West, 10.5 games behind the first place Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cincinnati Reds,(50-62), remains in fourth place in the National League Central, 22.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals.
