The Baltimore Orioles returned the favor against the Los Angeles Angels in a sure-fire pitchers duel. Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez (9-7, 3.79 ERA, 8.0 IP, 6 K’s, 2 Hits, 0 ER) (W) was absolutely brilliant tonight on the mound.
Opposing pitcher Garrett Richards (11-9, 3.51 ERA, 6.0 IP, 7 K’s, 7 Hits, 3 ER) (L) pitched well but didn’t receive much run support. This was tough as the Angels lineup struggled against Jimenez.
The Orioles first scored in the top of the third inning. This was via Adam Jones fielders choice into the shortstop as third baseman Manny Machado scored. It was 1-0 Baltimore at the end of three innings.
Manny Machado scored the second run of the game as he hit his 24th home run of the season. A shot to left field as the Orioles took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit two sacrifice flys in the sixth and eighth inning that put Baltimore up 4-0 over Los Angeles.
Lastly Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph hit a home run to left field as this was the final run scored in the game. Baltimore completed the 5-0 shutout over the Los Angeles Angels.
Now this series is tied and it will be determined tomorrow at 12:37 PM PT. This one will be intriguing as both teams are well within their divisional race.
