Recap: Nationals 5, Dodgers 3

This afternoon in the Nationals Park the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals resumed play of yesterday’s delayed power outage game. It was such a problem with the lights being out that they had to pause the game until 11:00 am PT.

Before the game resumed on Saturday afternoon in Washington D.C. the Nationals had the lead. In the third inning Bryce Harper grounded out into a fielder’s choice as Yunel Escobar scored. The Nationals took a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning Adrian Gonzalez hit his 19th home run of the season. A two-run shot to right field as he and Justin Turner scored to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead. During the bottom of the fifth inning Escobar hit a two-run home run to answer as the Nationals regained the lead at 3-2.

When the game resumed today Adrian Gonzalez hit his second home run of the game. His 20th home run which was a shot to left field this time around. This tied the game at 3-3.

Unfortunately one Dodger reliever was responsible for the loss. Pedro Baez (2-2, 3.42 ERA) (L) gave up the two-run homer by Nationals pinch hitter Matt den Dekker. This gave Washington a 5-3 lead and game one win of the series.

Currently the Dodgers and Nationals are playing game two of the series. Hopefully they can even up the series at 1-1 this afternoon in Nationals Park.
