RECAP: Lakers, End Skid Against New Orleans 95-91
- Updated: January 13, 2016
A much need win was in order for the Lakers, as the beat the New Orleans Pelicans,95-91. Despite the fact that the Los Angeles started this game with three straight turnovers and going 0 for 12 from the three point line in the first half, the Lakers got the job done.
The Los Angeles Lakers, see-sawed with the New Orleans Pelicans all last night, but managed to get some clutch playing time from Lou Williams to end a four game losing streak, against New Orleans.
Williams, finished the game with 9 of his 19 points during a fourth quarter run that gave the Lakers that final push, for the win. Another great game from the free-throw line for Williams as well, making all ten of his attempts. Jordan Clarkson had 18 points to help Williams and gave him a second punch for the Lakers offensive.
Los Angeles Guard Kobe Bryant, who left a few minutes before the end of the second half, did not return to this game. Bryant re-injured his Achilles that had him sidelined in the past. This injury isn’t to the surgically repaired side, that he had fixed in the past.
Bryant is a game-time decision for the game on Thursday night, against the Warriors.
Also missing was Anthony Davis of the Pelicans, who missed his second straight game, due to back problems.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR THE LAKERS:
This was a great win for Los Angeles despite some of the numbers. After the very slow start of three-point shooting, the Los Angeles managed to hit 6 of 29 from beyond the line, only 21%, but the Pelicans only shot 29%, going 6 for 23 and the Lakers still won this game. Give the Lakers some much needed credit, they were able to make good things happen at the free-throw line, hitting 25 of 32 from the line, for 78%.
NEXT UP FOR THE LAKERS:
