Recap Giants 9, Dodgers 5 – Dodgers Lose to Giants Yet Again

As of last night the San Francisco Giants extended winning more games against the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to ESPN the Dodgers are (5-16) against teams with a winning record. This needs to change period.

Giants starting pitcher Chris Heston (7-5, 3.83 ERA, 5.2 IP, 1 K, 3 ER) (W) won this match cup against Dodgers starter Mike Bolsinger (4-2, 2.87 ERA, 5.1 IP, 6 K’s, 5 ER) (L) struggled against the defending World Series Champions.

It started out nice for the Dodgers as Yasmani Grandal hit an RBI single as Los Angeles was up 1-0. This didn’t last as Buster Posey hit a grand slam in the top of the third inning giving the Giants a 4-1 cushion.

The Dodgers offense showed up in the bottom of the third inning as Justin Turner and Adrian Gonzalez hit RBI singles. The score was 4-3 San Francisco and the lead seemed attainable until the sixth and seventh innings.

During the sixth inning Brandon Crawford hit an RBI double as Brandon Belt scored to give the Giants a 5-3 lead. As the top of the seventh rolled around San Francisco extended their lead by four more runs. By the end of the seventh inning it was 9-3 San Francisco.

The Dodgers managed to score two more runs as the final score was 9-5. Losing game one means that tonight’s game at 7:15 PM PT is a must win only holding a 1.5 game lead over first place in the National League West.

Giants starter Tim Hudson (4-6, 4.65 ERA) will face Carlos Frias (4-4, 4.14 ERA) in game two of this California baseball rivalry.
