Recap: Giants 6 Padres 0

Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt scored in the second inning to kick the game off for the Giants and ultimately beat the San Diego Padres 6-0.
Austin Hedges also joined the Padres in San Francisco today as backup catcher.
Andrew Cashner got the start for the Padres. He pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits and 6 runs while striking out 3. He walked 3 batters.
For the San Francisco Giants Ryan Vogelsong got the start. He pitched 7 innings as well allowing 3 hits and no runs while striking out 4.
Corey Spangenberg kicked things off by getting grounded out to first, and Yangervis Solarte singled to right shortly after off of Vogelsong’s pitching. Also in the top of the first, Matt Kemp and Justin Upton filed out to right. The score after the first inning was 0-0.
After 1 inning of scoreless baseball the Giants got on the board first, followed by three more runs in the bottom of the third from Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, and Brandon Crawford. The Giants scored again in the bottom of the fifth as Joe Panik homered to right.
The top of the second was much of the same scoreless ball game with Derek Norris grounding out to shortstop, followed by Will Venable, and Will Middlebrooks.
In the bottom of the second, Brandon Crawford walked, Gregor Bianco struck out swinging and Vogelsong grounded out to the pitcher in a pickoff attempt. Giants were up 2-0 after Justin Maxwell singled to center causing Belt to score, followed by Matt Duffy‘s reach on fielders choice to third.
The 5th inning is where the flurry of runs came. Crawford singled to left, Buster Posey scored, and sent Crawford to second on a left fielder Justin Upton throwing error. Gregor Bianco was safe at first on the Padres’ second baseman, Solarte, fielding error. Belt and Crawford both scored as a result.
The final run was scored in the bottom of the fifth as a ball from Andrew Cashner helped Joe Panik homer to right and total the score at 6-0.
The Padres and Giants will continue their series tomorrow night at AT&T Park in San Francisco at 12:45 p.m. PST
