For the second time this year the Los Angeles Dodgers have been swept in AT&T Park to the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. Adding insult to the sweep it was the second time the Giants had swept and shut out the Dodgers in franchise history. There is quite more to discuss as yet again the reigning World Series MVP faced the reigning National League MVP.
Madison Bumgarner (5-2, 2.84 ERA, 6.1 IP, 0 ER, 6 K’s) (W) won this time around against Clayton Kershaw (2-3, 4.32 ERA, 7.1 IP, 4 ER, 7 K’s) (L) What is even more unbelievable is the fact that this was a rare game as Bumgarner became the first World Series MVP to hit a home run against the reigning National League MVP. As the third inning ended San Francisco was up 1-0.
As the fourth inning continued the Giants managed to add another run to their lead. Hunter Pence hit an RBI single to right field as Angel Pagan scored as the Giants went up 2-0 at the end of the fourth. San Francisco managed to score two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the struggles for the Dodgers offense continued with no runs in the last three games.
Tonight though the Los Angeles Dodgers will try to turn things around offensively. At 7:10 PM PT Andrew Cashner (1-7, 3.24 ERA) will take on Zack Greinke (5-1, 1.52 ERA) as the Dodgers look to avoid losing their fourth straight game in a row. With the San Francisco Giants 1.5 games behind in the National League West the time to win will be tonight in Chavez Ravine.
