Recap: Giants 3, Dodgers 2 – Today Then

It is quite fitting that the Dodgers and Giants would go into AT&T Park with the Dodgers only needing one win to clinch the division and the Giants fight like crazy to win the first game against Zack Greinke, pushing the game to 12 innings and win on a sac fly to the outfield.

I hate that we lose but they played well, after Zack Greinke gave up a 2 ball, 2 strike, 2 out double to right field that scored 2 in the bottom of the 2nd to rookie catcher Trevor Brown, the Greinke and the Dodger bullpen didn’t give up a run for 9 innings, a full game. A lot of people are going to dump on Don Mattingly and his apparent lack of managerial skills but honestly, I can’t see what he did wrong. They played a very tough team that’s fighting for their very life and at home. Sure, a few timely hits here and there and the game is over and sure maybe you don’t bring in Adam Liberatore there and maybe pitch Jansen but being in San Francisco, I’m sure Mattingly wanted to save Jansen to come in the bottom of an inning to finish the game, at home, different story.

At least it was fun to see Corey Seager not show any type of nervousness playing in a playoff like atmosphere matter of fact, go 2-4, and account for both of the Dodger runs with a run scored and an RBI. Enrique Hernandez is back, going 2 for 2 after pinch-hitting for Chris Hatcher in the 9th.

So, that’s that, we get to do this again today. Clayton Kershaw (15-7, 2.25 ERA) against Madison Bumgarner (18-8, 2.88 ERA), our #1 vs their #1, lefty v lefty, Mr. Cy Young vs. Mr. World Series MVP.

Let’s do this! See you there, 7:15 PM, let’s end this!
