Yesterday in Coors Field the Los Angeles Dodgers managed to win the second game of a series that was affected due to the weather. Clayton Kershaw (1-2, 4.26 ERA, 5.2 IP, 5 ER, 5 K’s) will have to wait again to solidify his career 100th win. Colorado Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa (0-2, 9.56 ERA, 4.0 IP, 5 ER, 4 K’s) struggled against the Dodger lineup as Kershaw did with the Colorado.
The Dodgers were the first to get on the board as Alex Guerrero scored by Kike Hernandez’s ground out to a fielder’s choice while Los Angeles went up 1-0. During the top of the fourth, A.J. Ellis was walked as Adrian Gonzalez scored with bases loaded resulted in a 2-0 Dodger lead. However it wasn’t until the bottom of the fourth inning when Clayton Kershaw allowed five earned runs. By the end of the inning Colorado had taken a 5-2 lead.
As the top of the fifth inning rolled around Adrian Gonzalez continued to show his bat. Gonzalez hit a bases clearing three-run double to deep right field to tie the game at 5-5. Below is an image of Justin Turner coming in the clutch with the pinch-hit home run.
Turner’s two-run homer to right center field gave the Dodgers a 7-5 lead. Los Angeles managed to score two more runs as the final here was 9-5. With this win the Dodgers are now 20-10 through the first thirty games. Tonight the Dodgers will return to Los Angeles to face the Miami Marlins.
Miami Marlins starter Tom Koehler (2-3, 5.18 ERA) will face Zack Greinke (5-0, 1.56 ERA) in game one of three in this upcoming home stand for the Dodgers.
