RECAP: Dodgers 9, Diamondbacks 3

The Los Angeles Dodgers clubbed two three-run home runs, and Mike Bolsinger tossed seven innings, allowing just two runs, to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-3 on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers got on the board first in the bottom of the first, when Howie Kendrick singled home Justin Turner – who would later leave the game after being hit by a pitch – to make it 1-0 over Rubby De La Rosa and the Diamondbacks.

That 1-0 score held for several innings, despite the Dodgers threatening to score several times, until the club blew up for a five-run fourth inning.

The rally started off the bat of Alex Guerrero, who singled home Kendrick, and then Andre Ethier, who singled home Yasmani Grandal. Then, Jimmy Rollins blasted a three-run home run to seal the five-run frame, knocking his seventh of the year.

In the very next inning, it was Kendrick, Grandal, and Ethier again, after the first two got on base and the left-handed outfielder drove everybody home with the Dodgers’ second three-run home run off De La Rosa in as many innings.

The Diamondbacks would chip back for two in the sixth, and another in the ninth, but the nine-run cushion the Dodgers built heading into the second half of the game was too much for Arizona.

Dodgers’ starter Mike Bolsinger was solid, allowing just two runs on three hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out eight hitters and throwing 61 of his 94 pitches for strikes.

Dbacks’ starter De La Rosa did not receive the same result, allowing all nine runs in his five innings of work, raising his ERA to 5.84.

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks meet again tomorrow night in Los Angeles, a game – and a series – that the Dodgers need after struggling the last week against the Cardinals and Rockies.
