Zack Greinke gave up one unearned run in 7.2 innings, lowering his season ERA to 1.56, and three home runs in the middle of the game allowed the Los Angeles Dodgers to cruise to an 8-2 victory in Milwaukee against the Brewers on Tuesday night.

The Brewers got on the board first, when Jean Segura reached on a fly ball misplayed in center field by Dodgers’ outfielder Joc Pederson. Aramis Ramirez scored on the play, charging an unearned run to Zack Greinke and giving the Brewers an early 1-0 lead after two.

The Dodgers took the lead in the sixth inning when Justin Turner clubbed a three-run home run to center field off Brewers’ starter Matt Garza, scoring Howie Kendrick and Adrian Gonzalez.

In the seventh, after Garza had been chased from the game, the Dodgers tacked on four more runs thanks to two more two-run home runs.

The first, a line drive to left-center field by Jimmy Rollins off reliever Neal Cotts, also scored Greinke and gave the Dodgers a 5-1 lead.

Then, two batters later, Gonzalez hit his ninth home run of the year, a two-run shot also off Cotts, that scored Kendrick as well and gave the Dodgers a 7-1 lead.

In the ninth, Turner struck again, singling with the bases loaded to score Rollins and pad the Dodgers’ lead to 8-1 at that point.

In the bottom of the ninth, Daniel Coulombe allowed a run on an Aramis Ramirez double, but that was all the Brewers could muster and the game ended 8-2 in favor of Los Angeles.

Greinke was phenomenal for the Dodgers, allowing just two hits and two walks in 7.2 innings pitched, striking out seven and only allowing the unearned run. He threw 69 strikes on 108 pitches, and also went 1-for-4 with a run scored, for good measure.

In addition to the home runs, the Dodgers showed great plate discipline, walking six times in the game, including two apiece by Pederson and Gonzalez.

Seven of the nine spots in the Dodgers’ order reached base safely, with only Andre Ethier in right field and Alex Guerrero in left field failing to reach base during the game.

The Dodgers and Brewers meet again tomorrow night before finishing their series Thursday afternoon in Milwaukee. The Dodgers will then travel to Colorado to face the Rockies this weekend at Coors Field.
