Recap: Dodgers 6, Angels 4 – Lucky #13
- Updated: September 8, 2015
The Los Angeles Dodgers came into today’s game winners of 12 of their last 14 games and the Dodgers looked to Clayton Kershaw to get their 80th win on the season and he did not disappoint. After a leadoff home run to Kole Calhoun (22), who also hit a first inning home run off Zack Greinke yesterday the first player to hit lead off home runs against both Kershaw and Greinke. Luckily Kershaw settled down and didn’t allow a run until the 7th inning after a couple of Corey Seager errors, his first two of the season.
Speaking of Seager, he has gotten a hit in every game he’s been in this season, and after getting 2 hits in 3 at-bats today, is hitting .381, with 3 doubles, 4 runs and 3 RBI’s, I think this kid’s legit, although those errors did not look good, he’s still awesome.
After staying ahead 6-2 after 8, the Dodgers made it interesting in the bottom of the 9th, Pedro Baez came in and gave up a double to Erick Aybar (ayyy) and David Freese, scoring Aybar and after Mike Scioscia brought in David Murphy to pinch hit, Kenley Jansen came in to replace Baez and promptly got Murphy to ground out to first, walked Matt Joyce putting men at 1st and 3rd, then 2nd and 3rd after a stolen base, Kenley does not hold runners, got a ground out to first for two outs and struck out first inning hero Kole Calhoun to end the game.
The win moves the Dodgers to 80-58, and keeps them 8 ahead of the San Francisco Giants after they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona today.
Tomorrow we get to experience Mat Latos (4-9, 4.92, 0-2, 6.56 with the Dodgers) getting another chance to stay in the rotation against Garrett Richards (13-10, 3.77), game time 7:05. See you then.
