Mike Bolsinger had a beautiful start at a time when his team needed it the most, going seven innings while only allowing one unearned run, and the Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up their series in Georgia with a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday afternoon.
Bolsinger allowed just three hits and a walk in seven innings, allowing his unearned run when Andrelton Simmons scored on Cameron Maybin‘s RBI groundout after reaching base on an error. Bolsinger struck out four Braves’ hitters, and got through his seven innings on just 98 pitches for his fifth win of the season.
Juan Nicasio and Kenley Jansen then threw scoreless innings to close out the game for the Dodgers, who were looking for a way to salvage the Atlanta series as Bolsinger took the hill on Monday.
The Dodgers didn’t do much on offense, only getting six hits off Braves’ starter Julio Teheran, but the six were enough — all three Dodgers’ runs came in the sixth inning thanks to RBI hits by Alberto Callaspo, Jimmy Rollins, and Joc Pederson.
Teheran was wonderful besides the sixth, striking out eleven Dodgers in his seven frames, but it wasn’t enough compared to Bolsinger’s tough show on the mound for Los Angeles.
With the win, the Dodgers are now 54-42, and still lead the National League West. They extend their ten-game east coast road trip throughout the week, as they next head to New York to face the surprisingly decent Mets for a four game series that will last through the weekend.
