Yesterday afternoon the Los Angeles Dodgers led by Clayton Kershaw (9-6. 2.37 ERA, 8.0 IP, 7 K’s, 0 ER 2 Hits) (W) won the second game of the Freeway series. Kershaw extended his scoreless innings pitched streak to 37 consecutive innings. Angels starting pitcher Andrew Heaney (5-1, 1.97 ERA, 5.1 IP, 3 K’s, 2 ER, 4 Hits) (L) pitched well until the bottom of the sixth inning when this game was opened up.

In the bottom of the sixth inning the Dodgers were able to score the game’s first runs. Scott Van Slyke came through in the clutch as he hit a sacrifice fly to left field as Howie Kendrick scored to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. This continued as Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal hit his 15th home run of the season to center field. A two-run homer that added to make the score 3-0 at the end of the sixth inning.

The Angels managed to score one run late in the top of the ninth inning. Albert Pujols hit an RBI single to left field as David Murphy scored for their only run of the game. The final score here was 3-1 as the Dodgers have won the series.

Right now the Dodgers lead the Angels 2-0 as the afternoon game is underway. Newly acquired pitcher Mat Latos (4-7, 4.29 ERA) from the Miami Marlins will make his Dodger debut against Angels starter Cory Rasmus.
