Recap: Dodgers 0, Brewers 7 – Brock’s Rocky 2nd Inning

Last night marked the 4th Dodger pitcher to make his debut this year. First there was Kenta Maeda, then Ross Stripling and Julio Urias and now we have Brock Stewart, a pitcher who rose fast from unranked prospect in High A Rancho Cucamonga to AA Tulsa, to AAA Oklahoma City and now to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Brock started well enough, he struck out the first two batters he saw, got Ryan Braun to ground out to the shortstop and that was it. It was in the 2nd inning where everything fell apart, after an out and two singles, Kirk Nieuwenhuis (I hear you struggling to pronounce that in your head, it’s “New-N-hice”) deposited a 3-1 pitch into the left-field seats making it 3-0. The Brewers would later score 2 more runs after some hits and walks and they would end the inning with 5 runs, 6 hits and two walks.

This is important because see, in the other four innings, the Brewers only managed to get two more runners on base both by singles, and he finished his 5 innings with 7 strikeouts. So if you take out that 2nd inning it was a great start by Brock.

The rest of the game was bad, the Dodgers only managed two hits, Adrian Gonzalez got ejected in the 4th and Chris Hatcher gave up a two-run home-run in the 7th inning.

That leaves the Dodgers to 43-37, today’s game is at 11:30AM in the morning, Kenta Maeda vs Zach Davies see you then!
