The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their series with the St. Louis Cardinals last night with a disappointing 4-2 loss.
Dodgers starter Zack Greinke pitched well in this game, going 6-2/3 and striking out 8. He also had a very productive day at the plate, collecting two hits and scoring one of the teams two runs.
The city of Los Angeles is very glad to see Jhonny Peralta‘s departure, who did the most damage in this victory for the Cardinals. Peralta went 3-4, with a homer, two RBI’s, scoring twice and he drove in the go ahead run for the win, he was only a triple shy of the cycle. In the seven games this season with Los Angeles, Peralta went 11 for 21 with two homers and 8 RBI’s.
The Dodgers attack was simply shut down by starting pitcher Lance Lynn, who only went 5 innings, he gave up the only Dodger runs on 98 pitches. In the first three innings, the Dodgers offense looked focused but from the fourth inning on, the team could not get any offensive production.
Justin Turner‘s offensive production was the biggest highlights in this game, Turner drove in both of the teams runs. In the first inning, Turner hit a double to deep center field that Yasiel Puig from first base and in the third inning, his single scored Greinke from second base. Yasiel Puig’s second game after returning from the DL was impressive, collecting two hits in his four trips to the plate.
The team will remain at home to start a series with the Arizona Diamondbacks ( 27-29 ), who are 4.5 game behind the first place Dodgers (32-25).
